The last two days were all about picking and preserving fruits!
On Tuesday, Fruktsam invited in collaboration with Smålands Nation to explore Lund’s public edibles. More than 40 people gathered on their bikes to cycle around the southern part of Lund to forage for apples, pears, elderberries, rosehips, blackberries and rowanberries. Some even found wild dill in a meadow!
Spread the word about picking on public places and check out the harvest map to find the best picking locations.
On Wednesay, ABC‘s local projects Fruktsam, Vi odlar! and Ett Grönare Lund’s Green Talk invited to the cultural center Stenkrossen to prepare our harvest from the picking session the day before. Chef Bianca Denvall (Biancas kök) thought some basics about how to preserve fruits and vegetables and we tasted some of her own delicacies. We then got active ourselves and with the help of Bianca we produced
- pickled carrots with cabbage and dill seeds,
- apple chutney with chokeberries, roasted fennel seeds and chili,
- pear-apple jam with cinnamon and ginger, and
- pickled plums with basil and bay leaf.

Thanks for your active participation and hope to see you at our next events!
